Pre-columbian Collection

Maria Pujana Designs

Three panels featuring pre-Columbian themed artwork with jungle scenery, Mayan ruins, jaguars, parrots, and carved stone figures, displaying vibrant colors and intricate details, titled 'Maria Pujana Designs Precolumbian Collection'.

As we know, jewelry is a very important expression of different civilizations' cultures.

Body and facial ornamentation were very popular in the Pre-Columbian world, and for the most part, jewelry was unisex, worn by both men and women. The one exception to this was the use of lip and nose plaques, which were worn exclusively by men of rank.

In the Mayan culture, jewelry was an important aspect of royal dress and a key indicator of status and social class. Pendants shaped like animals were especially popular, as was the Mayan headdress, which was an important sign of power.

Mayan masks were made from gold, available gemstones, and shells.

The artifacts of María Pujana Designs' Pre-Columbian collection are beautifully crafted reproductions of pieces that can be found in the Gold Museums of Bogotá, Colombia; Lima, Perú; and San José, Costa Rica. Every piece requires intricate hand-crafted detailing to capture the original look of antiquity. Pieces are then plated twice in 24K gold, giving them a rich, deep gold color. Our special lacquering process ensures their long-lasting beauty. Only the finest raw materials and semi-precious stones are used in the collection.
